Decarbonization Project of Cabopol
Cabopol’s decarbonization project, to be carried out on Estrada da Calvaria, S. Jorge, Porto de Mós, aims to significantly reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and strengthen energy independence.
To achieve this, the company plans to install a photovoltaic power plant for self-consumption, with 1.22 MWp capacity; optimize the cooling water system with a new chiller and water/air dry cooler; and implement an energy consumption monitoring system.
These measures are expected to reduce energy consumption by around 30.4% and GHG emissions by 30.4%.
The investments fall under the categories “Low-carbon processes and technologies in industry,” “Adoption of energy efficiency measures in industry,” and “Incorporation of renewable energy sources and energy storage,” fully contributing to the climate goals of the funding notice. The investment will take place between July 2023 and June 2025, with a measurable impact on consumption and emissions by 2025.
